Frequently asked questions - FAQ

Why is the Marsupi the right baby carrier for babies?

  • The Marsupi is the ideal choice for parents when it comes to ergonomic babywearing and they are looking for a simple, intuitive and affordable solution. This baby carrier is characterized by its low weight and was specially developed for small babies. Soft materials and the patented Velcro fastening system make it wonderfully comfortable to wear. It is the perfect starter carrier for all parents who don't like the sling that much.

When can I carry my baby in the Marsupi?

  • The Marsupi is perfect for the first six months. But it also grows up to 15 kg. However, the comfort for the carrying parents then decreases. For premature babies, babies with low birth weight and children with health restrictions, please seek advice on babywearing. Here we recommend a sling, as baby carriers should only be used from a birth weight of 3.5kg due to the muscle tone not yet being fully developed.

Is the Marsupi also suitable for larger babies?

  • Although the Marsupi is ideal for the first 6 months, it can still be used later, up to a weight of 15 kg. Because the Marsupi is so compact and lightweight, it is ideal for quick use on a trip or hike, or just to the store.

And what about looking ahead?

  • Since a baby's hips are tilted forward until the 8th month due to the upright spine, babies must always be carried with their legs squatted in the M position (knees at belly button height). This posture supports natural hip development. If the bridge of the carrier is too narrow or if you look forward, the baby's legs hang down, the back and thus the pelvis are pushed into an upright position and the entire weight lies on the abdomen, which is in the process of ossifying. Another point of view should not be neglected: Babies need to be able to withdraw when overstimulated. When carried, they do this by pressing the head into the wearer's chest. This is not possible when carried forward. The baby is forced to give up its ability to retreat and is literally flooded with far too many stimuli flowing into it. This is not noticeable during the day. Only in the evening, when the baby settles down, does he begin to process these stimuli. The result of too much stimulation is frequent crying in the evening. An alternative option for looking forward at your baby is carrying it on the hip.

I'm having trouble finding the size

  • Finding the right size is actually not too difficult, as the Marsupi is based solely on your clothing size. And if you are between 2 sizes, please always choose the smaller size. We exchange and it has almost never happened that a larger size was requested. The Marsupi is generously cut for the respective clothing sizes:

Größe S/M

  • S/M fits women's clothing 36/38 and fits mens clothing 46/48

Größe L

  • L fits women's clothing 40/42 and fits mens clothing 50/52

Größe XL

  • XL fits women's clothing 44/46 and fits mens clothing 54/56

Größe XXL

  • XXL fits women's clothing over 46 and fits mens clothing over 56

Is there a guarantee?

  • Regardless of the legal warranty claims, the manufacturer in Romania grants a 12-month manufacturer's guarantee on the materials and the craftsmanship.
  • The Marsupi complies with European safety standards CEN/TR16512:2015.

Where is the Marsupi made?

  • The Marsupi was developed by the ARFAM company in Transylvania (Romania). In collaboration with German parents and babywearing consultants, the Marsupi developed into an absolutely innovative and healthy baby carrier in the early 2000s, which it still is today. All Marsupi models are still manufactured today in three small family businesses in Transylvania.
  • Quote from ARFAM company: "Since we have three children ourselves, we know from our own experience how important it is that children's products are suitable for children and parents. With this attitude, we have been producing "Marsupis" since 1996. Our goal: As much function as possible, as few complications as necessary. A simple product that delivers performance without having to take a test first... We would like to thank you very much, dear customers and dealers: for your praise and encouragement on the one hand, because that has pushed us forward, but also for criticism and suggestions, because that has shown us the way. Thank you very much!"

Important

  • Please remove stains with a damp cloth instead of washing the Marsupi too often.
  • Always close the Velcro fasteners when the Marsupi is washed or stored.
  • Never iron the Velcro fasteners.

Safty Instructions

  • Please monitor the baby constantly and make sure that his mouth and nose are clear.
  • The baby's chin must not rest on the chest, otherwise breathing will be hindered.
  • The Velcro fasteners must be kept clean and overlap at least 12 cm (5 inches).
  • The hip belt must never be opened while the baby is in the Marsupi.
  • The baby always needs to be held extra when the Marsupi is being adjusted. Since the baby's muscle tone only starts from a weight of cs. 3.5 kg, a baby carrier should generally not be used up to this weight. For premature babies, advice on a suitable sling should always be taken.
